It’s vitally important to designate a wedding getaway driver for the big day. This should be someone you trust to stay sober during the fun of the party and who is responsible enough to get you and your new spouse to your next destination. Ubers, Lyfts, taxis and other transportation services are hard to rely on or cost more than you’re willing to spend, so it’s best to ask a friend or family member to complete this last wedding favor. This way, if you’re hungry, your ride can stop at the nearest drive-thru on the way to wherever you’re staying that night.

Get that Marriage License Signed

It’s easy to get caught up in the party after the wedding ceremony. The food, drinks, and dance floor are all waiting to be enjoyed to the fullest with all your loved guests. Don’t let this amazing party take the legal legitimacy of your marriage. After the ceremony, take the wedding certificate to a safe place and get that paper signed! The wedding certificate needs to be signed by you, your spouse, the officiant, and two witnesses. So, make sure to pre-arrange this special line-up before the day of so your marriage can be recognized by the state.

EAT

We hear so many couples say they forget to eat or get too distracted to eat on the day of their wedding. This can prove to be an issue later in the night with the addition of alcohol and intense dancing. Prioritize at least two meals during your big day to make sure your body has some energy to carry it to the very end of the party. You don’t want to call it quits before the night is over!

Designate a Clean-Up Crew

Luckily, at our wedding venues, our staff helps with the majority of the clean-up. But, it’s important to designate one or two responsible, trustworthy people, to take care of your personal items, or other wedding details that can’t be left at the venue. Many wedding venues do not have a staff to help clean after the fact, so if this is the case for your wedding, get a big group of friends and family to volunteer to make sure everything is put back together and cleaned up to the expectations of the venue.

Breathe

The most important thing to remember on the day of your wedding is to breathe! We hear recently married couples say over and over again how fast the day goes by. Remember to slow down in times of stress or overwhelming moments. Take a breath, take some mental images and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime day.

Though there is bound to be something forgotten on the day of the wedding, if you remember these five wedding details, you’ll make it out just fine! Everything else can be worked around. Just be sure to eat, dance, sign your very important wedding certificate, and allow your friends and family to take care of you.
